Large Animal Veterinarian for Southern Indiana Practice

Equine focused, large animal veterinary position available in southern Indiana.  Fantastic opportunity to combine a fulfilling career with a satisfying life outside of work.  Our practice is centered in Bloomington, a college town with unique character, known for its Big 10 sports and broad range of art and entertainment venues.  It is minutes away from numerous outdoor recreation sites -Lake Monroe, state parks (3), national forests (2)- that showcase the area's beautiful hill country. We are a predominantly equine (70%) and bovine (25%) practice with a lesser number of small ruminants, camelids, and bison. Our equine patients represent many breeds and disciplines.  Our food animal cases focus mainly on beef cattle (cow/calf) and goats. About 75% of our calls are ambulatory, with the remainder seen at our well appointed clinic / hospital. Our haul-in facility is outfitted with examination stocks, video-monitored stalls, indoor and outdoor arenas and a breeding dummy. Our equipment includes in-house CBC/chemistry analyzers, digital radiography, digital ultrasound, endoscopy, motorized dentistry tools and three practice vehicles with mobile units. The full range of services we provide is one of our practice’s greatest strengths. It varies from preventative medicine to general medicine and surgery, dentistry, equine sports and regenerative medicine,  theriogenology, and bovine herd health and obstetrics. This variety keeps practice fresh and interesting, while fostering resourcefulness and sharpening clinical skills. Our practice has a laid back, family atmosphere. Most of our clients are well established, compliant, medically savvy and financially secure. They appreciate the quality of our care and our responsiveness in times of emergency.

       We are looking for a third veterinarian who will thrive in our practice environment, both personally and professionally. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, compassionate, ethical and communicate well. The ability to work with all large animal species is required; a special interest in theriogenology is desirable. Salary commensurate with experience. Benefit package includes liability insurance, disability insurance, health insurance stipend, CE, professional dues and licenses, paid vacation, retirement plan and use of a practice vehicle. Bonus compensation will be provided for after-hour emergency calls. This position is full time, but flexible scheduling and extended leave during slower periods could be considered, if desired.

       At least one year of experience is preferred. Consideration will be given to recent graduates with a strong equine and livestock background. Mentoring will be provided as needed to facilitate a successful transition into clinical practice.  Indiana license and federal accreditation are required.
