Idaho Humane Society is seeking a full time Shelter Veterinarian for our shelter medicine program. The Shelter Veterinarian is responsible for the daily care and treatment of all hospitalized shelter animals, injury/ isolation animals, foster animals, and any other shelter animals. This includes but is not limited to; conducting rounds on shelter animals, completing vet checks for new animals to the shelter, completing surgeries for shelter animals, and seeing post adopt clientele.

The Shelter Veterinarian will be part of a dynamic and motivated team of veterinarians and support staff providing excellent quality medical and surgical care for shelter animals. We see a wide range of interesting medical and surgical cases as well as the standard routine and elective spay/neuter. This position does not see regular outside clients. This role would be an excellent growth opportunity for veterinarians looking to expand their surgical skills and shelter medicine experience. Veterinarians can expect to make a real difference in the lives of people and animals in the Treasure Valley and beyond with our shelter programs. The shelter veterinarian will assist our Washington State University Veterinary students up to one day per week. Our shelter serves as an off-site clinical rotation for students in shelter medicine where they learn spay/neuter skills and practice physical examinations. The program has a full-time veterinarian overseeing them, but coverage for 1-2/days per clinical rotation is typically required.

• Position is full-time (four 10 hour shifts), with benefits, and requires working a weekend day.
• Education: Must possess a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine
• Requirements: Currently licensed in Idaho to practice veterinary medicine or ability to obtain license upon hire; must be qualified and eligible to obtain Idaho state pharmacy license and DEA license
