Transitioning from a veterinary student to a team member in an established private practice can be both exciting and stressful! At Elmbrook Veterinary Clinic, you will receive support to achieve your next career goals and assist with the continuation of your educational experience. We are a private practice committed to teamwork and collaboration. We treat our staff and clients like family.
Program Explanation
Externs will work alongside our veterinary team and participate in all aspects of patient care. We practice high quality medical and surgical care and we will do our best to provide an interesting caseload with many learning opportunities!
Externships are typically two or three weeks in length. The schedule will consist of M-F workdays. We see appointments in the morning and afternoon. The mid-day is scheduled for surgical procedures and sick patients.
A weekly stipend will be provided, except where prohibited by school regulation.
Job Requirements
We are looking for 4th year veterinary students with interest in small animal, private practice. There is a potential job opportunity for the right candidate after the program concludes.
Externs must:
- be enrolled in an accredited DVM program
- be authorized to work in the United States
- be 18 years of age or older.
- be proficient with communication
- be eager to learn
- have a positive attitude and join in willingly with our team.
- enjoy working with patients as well as clients
- carry professional liability insurance. AVMA PLIT liability insurance is free for all student members of the AVMA. You may apply for this coverage on their website. Please check to make sure your coverage is current and submit a certificate of coverage with your application.
