The Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences (VBS) at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a teaching faculty member. This is a non-tenure-track, faculty position on a 48-week academic year appointment with 100% teaching responsibilities in a fixed-term multi-year (3 year) contract with the opportunity and expectation for continued renewal.
Responsibilities: The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses within the undergraduate major of Veterinary & Biomedical Sciences, such as VBSC 050S- First year seminars; VBSC 202W-Contemporary issues in veterinary sciences; VBSC 421- Comparative anatomy; VBSC 340- Introduction to human and veterinary public health; VBSC 402W – Biology of animal parasites. Additional responsibilities will include serving as the undergraduate advisor for students in the department of veterinary and biomedical sciences along with primary engagement in undergraduate student orientation, recruitment, and retention programs in the college. The successful candidate will collaborate with the college recruitment director to develop recruitment materials, participate in recruitment events and activities to identify prospective students. This position will also actively participate in college programming and support of students enrolled in other commonwealth campuses.
Qualifications: Qualifications include a V.M.D./D.V.M., M.D., and/or Ph.D. in biomedical sciences, life sciences, or biology discipline and a strong record of teaching scholarship including demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching, excellent writing, and oral communication skills. The successful candidate must have completed all degree requirements by the appointment date. Communication, creative leadership, congeniality, and the ability to work cooperatively as well as engage professionally with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students across the university is required.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).
