Applications are invited for an open position as a Mixed Animal Practitioner at Holdrege Veterinary Clinic P.C.. A progressive, busy, mixed animal practice in Holdrege, NE is seeking energetic, enthusiastic associate(s) to join our team. Our practice is truly mixed with the majority of the work consisting of bovine (feedlot & cow-calf) and small animal. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver individual animal medicine and surgery. Herd health management and feedlot consultation responsibilities are assigned after demonstrable clinical skills are achieved and a strong interest is shown by the candidate.
The Holdrege Veterinary Clinic P.C. sits on 3 acres outside city limits (Pop = 5600). An addition was undertaken in the 1990's to expand the small animal surgery suite, companion animal isolation and boarding. Holding facilities and large animal working facilities were also created to accommodate up to 200 cows A new 2000 s.f. addition for large animal work was also completed in February 2020 for Equine hospitalization, and a neonatal scour ward, and to house our tilt table. The Minden Veterinary Clinic was recently renovated (2017) to include a second small animal examination room. The large animal Facilities were renovated in 2014 to include the Daniels Hydraulic chute. It also sits on 3 acres outside city limits of Minden NE (Pop = 2600). We regularly update our equipment to enjoy making practice life better for our clients and staff, and most recently includes a Class IV therapeutic laser. Both locations have haul-in facilities with hydraulic Daniels chutes for working cattle as well 2 portable hydraulic Daniels chutes, a portable hydraulic calf tub and chute, and a portable Tuffy Tilt Table. A fully stocked practice vehicle with Bowie is provided for day calls and after hours work. All emergencies are presented into the Holdrege Hospital.
Expectations are to perform primary individual animal medicine and surgery for small and large animal species. After hours are shared among veterinarians and will include all species. With our strong feedlot presence and loyal clientele, we do not experience seasonality in large animal work customary to cow-calf practice. We are a high volume practice in case load with referrals and clients from a 60 mile radius. A strong ability to multi task and communicate are essential.
