Associate Veterinarian

Bixby Animal Clinic has been serving the Long Beach, CA, community for more than 17 years, providing excellent customer service to our clients and exceptional medical care to our patients. 

Our rapidly growing, small animal private practice group located in sunny Southern California completed a major expansion project in 2022, and we see a wide variety of cases.  Our hospital is complete with 8 exam rooms, 2 surgery suites, an ultrasound suite, a radiography suite, a large treatment area, a separate isolation room, a cat ward, and an expansive doctor’s office. Besides our 18 associates in general practice, we work closely with Board-Certified Internists, Criticalists, Dermatologists, Cardiologists, and Orthopedic Surgeons. In addition, we have made a significant investment in our team members so you can focus on delivering the highest quality medicine. Our RVTs, Vet Assistants, Doctor’s Assistants, and Pharmacy Technicians are dedicated to our mission of providing excellent patient outcomes.

We are looking for talented new graduates and experienced DVMs who are passionate about the field of veterinary medicine and are open to growing with our hospital. Mentorship:

Bixby Animal Clinic offers ample opportunities for mentorship in all areas of veterinary medicine. During our Mentorship Program, our senior veterinarians guide our new graduates through the beginning of their work. You’ll have the freedom that a private practice offers to practice medicine the way you want, while having the backing of experienced DVM colleagues as you pursue professional growth.  Our Medical Director oversees our new graduates’ progress through the program, reviewing cases with them and providing feedback.

Our senior veterinarians are extremely experienced in soft tissue surgeries, mass removals, laceration repairs, and a variety of other invasive procedures. These veterinarians readily scrub into surgeries with our new graduates, whether they are routine or being performed for the first time.

Our close relationship with our Board-Certified Internists, Cardiologists, and Surgeons allows our veterinarians to consult on more complicated cases and gives us the ability to manage them in-house.

A new, 6600 sq. ft. state of the art clinic, with 8 exam rooms, 2 surgery suites, ICU, isolation, radiology, doctors’ and administrative offices

· In-house lab with Idexx Catalyst, SnapPro, Abaxis PTPTT, and CBC machines
· Full suite of dental equipment

Your Skills and Qualifications

• A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited university
• Valid license to practice in California, prior to start date
• Commitment to practicing medicine in accordance with CA VMB standards and veterinary medical ethics
• Exemplary behavior in all matters of hospital leadership

• Partnering with clients to advocate for the long-term wellness of their pets and developing treatment plans to achieve lifelong health
