Parker Veterinary Clinic was established in 1980 as a single man practice. Today we have 2 veterinarians and are looking for a third. We presently are at 65% large animal and 35% small animal. The large animal consists of mainly beef cow/calf. We do service 3 larger dairies ranging from 500 t0 7000 cows. There are always a few horses, some sheep and goats, and an occasional pig. The small animal is growing as we live only 30 minutes from Sioux Falls. Sioux Falls is the largest city in South Dakota with a 200,000 to 300,000 population. It has all the amenities of larger cities. There is a large event center for lots of large programs. The area is also close to many hunting and fishing opportunities. The practice has been growing steadily. The clinic has two small animal exam rooms, lab room, dispensing area, kennel room for small animal patients and calf IV cases, and office areas. There is a large animal working area out back under roof. The corral is covered. Inside is a hydraulic chute and hydraulic tilt table for feet work. We have ultrasound units for bovine reproduction, Heska hematology machine and Idexx blood chemistry machine, and a portable x ray machine. There is also a portable hydraulic chute for use on the farm. We find hosting externs is a good way to attract future veterinarians to join our team. As an extern you will be involved in as much case work as we can with lots of hands-on opportunities. Most externs stay with us in our home so room and food is provided.
Parker Veterinary Clinic of Parker, SD is seeking to hire a new associate. We are a two man practice looking to hire a third veterinarian. The practice is about 65 % Large Animal and then about 35% small animal. The large animal is predominantly beef cow/calf but we are working for a few large dairies. There are some sheep and a growing presence of goats along with some camelids and horses. The small animals are mostly dogs and cats. We have a haul-in facility for cattle that includes a corral under roof and a working area inside with a hydraulic chute and hydraulic tilt table. We have ultrasound units for reproductive work. The lab has hematology and blood chemistry machines. We also have a portable x ray machine. We do most routine small animal surgeries and treatments. Our clients are important to us and any new veterinarian must be willing to communicate with them with honesty and integrity. Parker is located 25-30 miles southwest of Sioux Falls. There are plenty of hunting, fishing and other out-door recreational opportunities available. A new graduate will receive as much mentoring as needed.
