We are a privately owned mixed animal clinic that has been serving our county since the 1970's. Our clinic sits below the beautiful Peaks of Otter and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Wonderful small town with two large cities and a lake within a thirty minute drive. Enjoy the freedom to practice in a hospital with a family feel and no corporate pressure. Patient care and affordability is the priority. We love surgery, and do a lot of canine reproduction work. We service family/hobby farms and backyard pleasure horses. We no longer offer small animal emergency work, and large animal emergency work is limited. This position can be small animal only or mixed animal (requiring working one weekend a month). Excellent ratio of LVTs to Doctors. Very stable staff with low turnover. Mentorship is not an issue. New graduates are never asked to perform tasks out of their comfort range and we have a backup doctor to support them with large animal emergency calls for at least six months. If you are an experienced large animal or mixed animal vet that is burned out and ready for a change, then we may be your future hospital. If you have been stuck in the small animal corporate world come experience the freedom of private ownership. Doctors work together and collaborate. Sharing our collective knowledge means our patients get better care. We offer straight salary or salary plus production, paid vacation and CE, paid health care, 401K and we cover DEA costs and licences.
Small animal surgery and internal medicine. Large animal medicine is optional
High volume mixed animal practice. We are located in Bedford County which is in southwest Virginia. Lots of outdoor activities close by. Great small town with vibrant downtown and two large cities close by. No after hours small animal work and limited large animal emergency work. We have senior vet students from VA Tech on a regular basis so mentoring a young graduate is not a problem. We have in house blood machines, a new ultrasound, and digital xray and dental xray. We do a lot of reproduction work with canines, and have a high volume of small animal surgeries daily. Sadly, due to the encroachment of the cities we have lost most of our dairies and large farms, but we still provide veterinary care to the remaining small cattle farms and back yard horse owners. We also see goats, sheep, pot belly pigs and alpacas.
