Being a Veterinarian at Mission
Being a veterinarian at Mission is truly a unique opportunity! Our veterinarians excel at offering Spectrum of Care medicine, allowing them to serve more pets, more clients, and make a greater impact! Veterinarians operate in all areas of the Mission environment: appointments, urgent care, general practice surgery, and high volume spay/neuter surgery. We put all our incoming veterinarians–no matter their background–through a customized training program designed to help them succeed in the unique Mission environment. Job Details:
Full-time or part-time, exempt (salaried), benefits-eligible
No overnights or on-call!
Schedule rotates on a six-week basis with 4-10 hour shifts per week. 1 weekend (Saturday-Sunday) out of every 3 is required.

Responsibilities:
Examine and treat animals on a first-come, first-serve basis as well as by appointment
Exercise good judgment and creative problem-solving in recommending treatment to clients with income limitations
Cultivate positive relationships with customers and their animals through regular communication and excellent record-keeping
Prioritize traumatic injuries and serious illnesses to ensure all animals receive time sensitive care
Educate clients on the importance of vaccinations, heartworm treatments, flea and tick treatments and other aspects of preventive care
Perform or assist with surgeries
General patient monitoring and care
Performing diagnostic tests and x-rays
Preparing estimates for patient treatment
Preparing animals and instruments for surgery
Administering medications, vaccines, and treatments
Observing and making decisions on the behavior and condition of animals
Communicating important discharge instructions with clients and recommending follow-up visits
Qualifications:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), or equivalent degree
Ability and willingness to teach, learn, and operate collaboratively in a technician-driven hospital
Developed communication skills, professionalism, and ability to collaborate with a team
Commitment to hospital core values of compassionate, accessible care
Professional Development:
Formalized and personalized on-boarding program, focusing in each service area
$4,000 continuing education funds per license cycle
