Mill Creek Veterinary Hospital is searching for a mixed animal veterinarian to join our team as Medical Director.
As our Medical Director, you’ll lead a 2-doctor, mixed animal hospital that has a talented and tenured team, including 4 assistants and an LVT! We’re searching for an experienced doctor who will build upon our hospital’s current strengths, while elevating our services and encouraging new business ideas. Veterinarians who are confident in surgery, love teaching, and have a performance/culture driven mindset will be highly considered for this role.
Our current Medical Director, Dr. Bill Acock, has impacted the Walla Walla community for decades, providing trustworthy services to generations of families since the early '80s. As Dr. Acock begins to reduce his hours, our community would greatly benefit from a doctor who will take the time to get to know them and can become someone they trust to have their pet’s best interests in mind.
This is a full-time role with flexible weekday scheduling. We split large animal on-call services with other hospitals in the area, and our small animal patients receive afterhour emergency care at a hospital in Tri Cities that has board certified surgeons and a well-versed emergency team.
Our investment in YOU:
Competitive base DOE
Quarterly production pay (no negative accrual)
Exciting bonus package / relocation assistance
Medical Director stipend
Flexible work week
120 hours of PTO (with rollover)
Medical, dental, and vision (with HSA option)
401(k) options
Annual CE allowance (with paid days to attend)
Parental leave / bonding time
Professional development assistance
Personal pet discounts
Uniform allowance
Paid license renewal fees and membership dues
AVMA PLIT coverage
Investment in your interests (National Park pass, gym membership, charity donation, etc.!)
Plus, much more!
Mentorship opportunities:
We’re dedicated to lifelong learning and are a great place tobuild deep working relationships with our team and advance your veterinary skills/knowledge. We provide a wide range of services and treat small and large animals—offering you a varied caseload and opportunities to expand your skills. Plus, Dr. Acock was one of the first VIN members and has 40+ years of experience to share with you! We also established a mentorship program for doctors who are interested in serving as a mentor to new graduates/early career doctors in our network. Additionally, our team has access to thought-partnership with a Medical Advisory Board, monthly DVM rounds with an internal medicine specialist, and dentistry training courtesy of a board-certified dental surgeon. If you’re a DVM who enjoys mentorship—both giving and receiving—this is a fantastic opportunity for you!
P.S. we recently welcomed Dr. Cassandra Van Atta to our team and she is eager to gain valuable mentorship from Dr. Acock and our future Medical Director. Dr. Van Atta is a recent graduate from Washington State University and she brings her enthusiasm for advanced diagnostics to our practice.
Our strengths:
Delivering modern medicine in an old-fashioned way: This motto has guided us for years and allows us to us to talk to clients as if they're friends (because they are) and work hard to find solutions that treat pets without breaking the budget
Team longevity! Our Hospital Manager and a CSR have both been with us for 20+ years
Providing excellent mixed animal care: routine/wellness checks, dentistry, herd health, equine medicine, minor orthopedics, advanced diagnostics, therapeutic services, emergency care, crematory services, and more
Utilizing our talented team, comprised of 4 assistants and an LVT
Being well-equipped with all the bells and whistles including a new digital xray, IDEXX lab, advance diagnostics, ultrasound, an outcall truck, and more
