Broadreach is seeking instructors for our summer 2026 season. Instructors will lead international programs for Middle and High School students based in the Bahamas.
Broadreach runs immersive veterinary medicine programs for middle and high school students. Programs include a 12-day adventure in the Bahamas and a more in-depth 21-day veterinary science program in Costa Rica, where students earn college credits on their trip.
Our most successful instructors are positive, flexible, team players who are able to create a fun, cohesive and supportive community. Broadreach instructors are energetic and empathetic role models. They excel in building meaningful relationships with young adults and demonstrate being a respectful traveler. Groups typically have 8-12 students and are led by two Broadreach instructors. Instructors live and travel with their group of students, so this is a 24/7 role, with limited personal space.
Our instructors will lead discussions about animal husbandry, safe animal handling and supervise students as they shadow local vets, animal clinics and shelters. Our instructors will also confirm logistics with local outfitters for activities such as kayaking, snorkeling and community service.
Responsibilities Include:
Leading academic discussions about safe animal handling, careers in animal science and animal nutrition
Managing health and safety of students
Maintaining a positive attitude through challenging circumstances
Leading games and activities to help students get to know each other and facilitate positive group dynamics
Participating in service-learning activities
Demonstrating respectful travel
Tracking trip budgets and expenses
Assist students with preparing daily meals for the group.
This is a paid position. Airfare and food/accommodations are included. Students are on site for these programs for 12 days, and instructors are expected to lead multiple sessions throughout the summer.
New instructors are required to attend our staff week-long staff training, in the second week of June.
Our summer season runs from June through August, 2026.
Our office is based in Raleigh, NC and instructors will lead programs based in the Bahamas.
